It's good to know that Sacramento has more than its fair share of kooks.*

(See my clinic escorting posts for more evidence of that fact.)

* I find it awfully rich that these good Christians aren't objecting to Walmart's business practices, merely it's choice of holiday marketing. Ass hats.

1. Egg nog or hot chocolate?
Martinelli's sparkling apple cider.

2. Does Santa wrap presents or just sit them under the tree?
Wouldn't that be akin to calling Santa a lazy ass? Of course he wraps the presents.

3. Colored lights on the tree / house or white?
Big giant colored lights!

4. Do you hang mistletoe?
Only when its given to me. I don't think I've actually ever kissed anyone under the mistletoe though...hrm, must remedy that.

5. When do you put your decorations up?
Santa may be a trooper, but I'm a bit of a lazy ass. I only decorate periodically and when it suits me. The best year is when I decorated my punching bag like a tree.

6. What is your favorite holiday dish (excluding dessert)?
Honestly, I don't come from a family that makes a huge production of food. My step-dad usually does a bang up job cooking vegetables *perfectly* and every year we tend to eat some obscenely expensive meat.

7. What is your favorite holiday dessert?
We don't have dessert at our house. True. But I do like pumpkin pie with whipped cream. Yum!

8. Favorite holiday memory as a child?
Being led into the back room of my grandparents' house by my grandfather with my eyes covered. When I opened them there was a brand new red bike (with training wheels, natch) covered a great big red bow. I always associate this night with the great big colored Christmas lights my grandparents had on the outside of their house and Lawrence Welk Holiday Specials--strangely this is all pleasantly nostalgic.

8. When and how did you learn the truth about Santa?
Ohhhhh, tales from dysfunction junction. I think I found out about Santa around first grade the natural route of classmates, but I was officially broken of then notion by my dear sweet mother when I was 8 years old. I was given a tin of cookies from the neighbors and was "saving them for Santa." When my mother awoke from her after-work nap she wanted a cookie but I wouldn't give her one because they belonged to Santa. She promptly said there was no Santa and she took my cookies. :(

10. Do you open a gift on Christmas Eve?
When I was a kid we opened all our presents on Christmas Eve and opened Santa's gifts on Christmas morning. When my mother married my step-father, that was the end of the Christmas Eve tradition and now we open all our presents Christmas morning.

11. What kind of cookies does Santa get set out for him?
We usually make chocolate chip cookies the night before and I have to fight my sisters to save a few for Santa. Ironically those greedy bitches are the skinny ones. *rolls eyes*

12. Snow! Love it or dread it?
I like it in theory (that's pretty much the only way I encounter it).

13. Can you ice skate?
Yes, but not well. The Rec Hall at CU Boulder had an ice-skating rink!

14. Do you remember your favorite gift?
Yes, see red bicycle above.

15. What's the most important thing about the holidays for you?
PRESENTS!
Actually, I find that to be the most annoying part of the holidays. My favorite part of the holidays are all the parties and the opportunities to see family and friends.

16. What is your favorite holiday tradition?
Drinking coffee in the morning and reading the LA Times with my parents. Making my sisters wait a few extra excruciating minutes before we open presents. Torturing the dogs with reindeer antlers and Santa hats.

17. What tops your tree?
My parents' tree? An angel, I think.

18. Which do you prefer? Giving or receiving?
Giving, I'm better at it.

19. What is your favorite Christmas Carol?
"I'm Getting Nothing For Christmas: Somebody Snitched On Me"

20. Candy Canes:
Yuck.

21. What is your favorite Christmas special or movie?
Oh, I'm such a cheeseball, I LOVE "It's a Wonderful Life"
