Apparently, I'm urban chic yo'. Or something...
A quick update.
Yes, the computer is broken and I hate, hate, hate Windows ME for the trouble it's given me. This is starting to sound like a country song.
The Cinema Brew Pub and Film Festival Projects are still happening and they give me great joy. I am not going to Portland, and that gives me great frustration (the originator of the Cinema Brew Pub idea is going to use the Portland scouting opportunity to make it a romantic weekend with his girlfriend).
The legal/financial situation is rapidly deteriorating. I've already consulted an attorney and have saved up the money needed to retain her. I may wind up suing someone for violating federal laws that pertain to my situation. It's an incredibly stressful and frustrating time. I'm not particularly happy right now.
My birthday was overwhelmingly underwhelming. The day started with an incredibly stressful incident (to be discussed later) that, unfortunately, colored the rest of the day. I was on edge, but well-loved. George, my co-worker, brought in a tiara and beads while my sisters sent me "over-the-hill" cards. I'm going to the Marin Zen Center on Sunday to celebrate (who doesn't need a little more Zen in their life, eh?) but feel fairly unenthusiastic about the prospect. I'm quite tired.
The work situation is frustrating. My bosses at Job#1 have installed a camera with audio to film us and have refused to compensate me for the extra shifts I've been working (four a month), telling me that it's part of working under salary. I'm frustrated. I'm tired. I'm so ready to give it all up and become a kept woman or a unemployment welfare queen.
Oy.
I've also started attending a book club. The woman are all intelligent, attractive, motivated, and educated women--they are also all Jewish and married to doctors. It's a wholly different crowd than I'm used to hanging out with and it's rather refreshing. I'm hoping to learn a little more about Judaism while discussing the great (and not so great) fiction of our time.
And that's the update, a la the condensed Reader's Digest version. I hope you are all well---my love to you all.
