Laundry List
Mar. 22nd, 2004 12:35 amGah, so very tired.
I'm back from house-sitting. It was a lovely little vacation away from my small little den o' iniquity (who am I kidding?) but I'm glad to be back, surrounded by my filth and stuff.
It's been an interesting week. I'm too tired to write about it, so I'll just do that annoying laundry listing of stuff.
Good Things
* I cleaned both cars (as in Armour-Alled, Windexed, cleaned the upholstery, vacuumed, filled tires, checked oil and water levels, and washed them).
*I'm planning Jennifer's bachelorette party--the theme is "Guns and Smut." She wants target shooting and strip clubs for her last hurrah and I am doing my level-best to oblige.
* My friend Katherine from Iowa came and visited this week--we actually made time to have lunch together. It makes me extraordinarily happy to know that she's happy.
* My Shanghai books arrived in the mail and they are both incredibly helpful.
Bad Things
* My bad back is due to my bed. It's song has been sung. (Sleeping on the super nice bed at my house-sitting job pretty much eliminated any back pain I had and any doubt as to what the source of it was). I don't have the money for a new bed--currently exploring options to extend the life of my current bed. Suggestions welcome.
* Someone hit my car (fuckers) and didn't leave a note. After I washed it, it was just a few scratches but it gouged the bumper (which is an expensive repair). I should be thankful that it wasn't worse, but I'm heartily annoyed that I only had a dent/scratch-free car for all of three months. Apparently my cars are doomed.
* My student loan servicer is convinced that I didn't pay them last month, although the electronic website and my bank both confirm that they did indeed take the money and kept it. They are threatening all sorts of important sounding sanctions against m. Grrr. I wager it will take a half-hour of finagling to straighten this out tomorrow. It makes me wonder if electronic debit is the way to go...that's surrendering a lot of control over my account to a servicer who obviously has its head up its ass.
*Gained weight, but that's my fault.
* The term "pre Diabetes condition" came up in conversation today. It applies to the problem I had with my ass. My mother works at a teaching hospital and that's the verdict they came up with when she asked them about possible causes for my posterior woes. They said it's really, really common as a pre Diabetes condition. Fuck. I have three of the predispositions---overweight, hypertensive, and there's a history of diabetes in the family. Eeek. The good news is, pre-Diabetes (which I may not be) can be treated in that a drastic change in lifestyle can turn things around completely. I'm calling Kaiser tomorrow to set up an appointment with the weight management group. Call this the ultimate inspiration.
* Dan embarrassed the shit out of me by approaching a woman that I have a platonic crush on and bungling my intentions. More on that later, but as it stands, I'm ready to castrate him.
And that's the week in review. Hurrah?
