Work was a weird and eery sort of hellish today. I found out that the owner got our store in "a bit of a pickle" (her term, not mine) with the IRS. Whoops! There's the minor details of a lien on all the accounts and the fact that vital services such as the phone, electricity, etc. might soon be shut off, and oh yes, don't try to cash your paycheck anytime soon... This news was delivered with a sort of weary calmness; the news didn't shock me as much as the delivery did. The IRS snafu is the natural consequence of the owner being totally inept at all things business related, but the calm and measured relaying of the news? Wowsa. The owner of the store has been known to throw things at customers should they cut in line....financial ruin and trouble with the IRS merits something only above a whisper? Oy, the end is nigh...
