So, I'll write a magic follow-up to recent posts...

*Regarding the "pro-choice"? post. No, I don't believe that the government should determine who can carry to term and who can't. I suppose in a strictly legal sense, I am still quite firm in my "pro-choice" designation. However, I think there's still a question of ethics to be considered. Is it ethical to invest finite resources in a doomed pregnancy when there's all sorts of people who could benefit and thrive from the same healthcare expenditure (i.e. asthma prevention programs in the inner-city, vaccination programs, etc)? The same question applies to life support for "hopeless" cases and transplants for people who are quite old or suffering from multiple organ failure. Are these "heroic" measures the right thing to do, especially in consideration of the bigger picture? Especially when the state is financing them, ultimately diminishing resources for other programs? I don't know. Honestly, I'm a little gun-shy on the whole ethics and life discussion, but it is certainly worth thinking about.

*The trip to Los Angeles. I spent five days in LA on business and felt fortunate to be part of my company. It was good. The fight with my sister centered on her leaving me off her family tree for her Spanish project (the dog made it on, but there wasn't room for me...?). I called her on it and she shrieked like a tea kettle and did everything but address the question. I'm still annoyed with her.

* Last weekend I went and sang sea shanties on the boat used in Mutiny on the Bounty. It was pirateriffic. I highly recommend the experience to all my Bay Area friends.

Deliver me.
