Sleeping in will kill a back-to-nature itinerary like nothing else can.
Despite my cravings, I did *not* make it to Angel Island this weekend, but I *did* make it to San Francisco and it was fan-freaking-tastic! Again!
As per usual, we hit North Beach (and a charming little dive called La Rocca's Corner where the bartender invests as much sass in his "customer service" as I do, as a result I am now a La Rocca convert) and Chinatown (I bought that incredibly gorgeous red silk robe I've been drooling over) and finally Pacific Heights.
Why, pray tell, Laura would you go to Pacific Heights? Home to millionaires, billionaires, yuppies, and would-be Marina boys and girls? Why? Because, that's where the SAN FRANCISCO GHOST HUNT WALKING TOUR (www.sfghosthunt.com) starts!!!!!!!

Olivia and I are huge dorks, but we are dorks in the exact same way and that way includes ghost stories and all things supernatural. As sister dorks we were able to get our full nerd alert on with this walking tour and it was AWESOME! Unfortunately we didn't see any ghosts but we did hear some incredible stories, learned something about San Francisco History, had the opportunity to prowl the Queen Anne hotel, got mistaken for hookers by our cab driver, AND we got to hang out with Jim Fassbinder who scared the holy hell out of me with an after-tour palm reading (he also chatted with us about a number of other subjects and was a quite charming and fascinating man). It was lovely.
Afterwards we headed for Tommy's Joynt and got the opporunity to eat MEAT!!! Lots of meat! This was almost as exciting as cruising down Columbus and watching the post-teen hipster set meet-greet-and-mate. I actually got to hear the line "Wanna take a hot stud home tonight?" twice this week...I guess it's the new "What's your sign?" Argh.
Twas a good day off indeed.
