Book Club Suggestions
Here's an open call to all of you book-lovin' nerds out there. I need to come up with some suggestions for tomorrow's book club meeting.
Background: To date, every best-seller we've read has been deeply disappointing, inspiring little to no discussion. The latest loser was The Rule of Four followed by The Kite Runner . The best book (aka the best discussion) was Jose Saramago's Blindness . It was both disturbing (content) and difficult (his writing style does anything but flow), but it was by far the most thought-provoking selection we've made. I'd like to select more books along this vein, but I'm woefully ignorant of similar authors and books.
So I come to you...
Does anyone have any wonderfully thought-provoking books they'd recommend for my book club?
