Best wishes as you venture to the Far East to teach. Here in
Wiesbaden, Germany, God has faithfully blessed Jolee and me through many
struggles, trials, and worries. I have been busy here since my late April
return from 12 months in Iraq. However, you will be happy to know that
I voted for Kerry by absentee ballot already. A conservative is a
liberal who got mugged. A Democrat is a Republican sent to Iraq with the
U.S. Army. We are losing the war there in a most magnificent fashion,
which I am sure you already knew. The truth about the media coverage is
the media (despite being horribly, inexorably liberal) has been far too
rosy in its portrayal of the progress of the "war on terrorism" in
Iraq, Afghanistan, America, and elsewhere.
Germany is beautiful in the fall. The leaves are starting to change
colors and the chestnuts are falling off the trees so hard they dent
the cars in a sort of autumnal harvest hail. I like to eat walnuts I
find on the ground and apples that I knock off the trailside trees with a
long, forked stick and gather in white, plastic grocery sacks.
I will not be attending the reunion, but you probably already
anticipated that given my previous absences at prom, graduation, etc. Jolee
is pregnant with a little Peatman due in the spring:)
Despite the infrequency of our communiques, I am interested in the
rationale for your new occidental employment and those events of note
which have transpired since last we spoke. Write or call as the
opportunity arises.
